If you are an avid birder or simply enjoy hearing the morning bird song, you’ll feel right at home amongst our forested riverside and the many birds that call Castle home.
World class bird watching from the comfort of
your cabin
Bird feeders and bird houses dot the Lodge grounds near the border of Rocky Mountain National Park. Year round, a lively chorus of birdsong kicks each day off to a great start.
When Fall River Canyon is especially cold or windy, our normal montane birds are joined by flocks of House Finches. Winters are also the time when the Grosbeaks make their regular visits to our feeders. But we are particularly known for our abundant Hummingbirds in the summer.
The bird migration in spring brings surprise visitors to our feeders and there is nothing as exhilarating as the sound of the first hummer in May.
